About this cable
316 stainless steel resists corrosion in salt air and wet conditions and keeps its bright finish, which makes it the cable for coastal and architectural work. It has a tensile grade of 1,770 N/mm².
Its minimum breaking load is 840 lb (3.7 kN), a reference value for 316 stainless rope of this size and construction. For a working load, divide that by a design factor suited to the job, commonly 5, and allow for fittings, bends and wear. It is not for aircraft control systems.
